A worldwide festival ethos

MANNA FEST

Come Together. Share What Matters.

Imagine a world where festivals bring people together to share food, music, creativity, culture and the things that make us human. Manna Fest is an open festival ethos that communities can bring to life in their own way, wherever they are.

More than a festival

Not one event. A shared way of gathering.

Manna Fest isn't a brand to be copied or a single festival to travel to. It's a set of values any community can pick up and make its own — a harvest supper in one place, a weekend of song and repair in another.

There's no central stage and no identical programme. Each gathering grows from its own people, landscape and traditions, while honouring a common spirit: generosity, belonging and care.

The decentralised model

One Ethos.
Many Places.

Any group of people can host a Manna Fest. Each one reflects the character of its people and place — its food, its music, its seasons — while honouring the shared principles that make it part of something larger.

  • A village green
  • A city neighbourhood
  • A market town
  • A creative collective
  • A coastal community
  • A school or allotment
  • …or wherever people want to gather.

Proposed founding principles

The Manna Ethos

A first draft, offered in the open. These principles are meant to evolve as communities test them, question them and add their own wisdom.

  1. 01

    Generosity & sharing

Bring what you can — a dish, a song, a skill, a pair of hands. Value is measured in what is shared, not what is sold.

  2. 02

    Community & belonging

A Manna Fest should leave people feeling more connected to their neighbours than when they arrived.

  3. 03

    Creativity & participation

Everyone is a contributor. The line between audience and performer is meant to blur.

  4. 04

    Cultural respect & exchange

Celebrate many cultures with curiosity and consent, letting communities tell their own stories in their own way.

  5. 05

Sustainability & care for the Earth

Gather lightly. Use local, seasonal and reused materials, and leave places better than they were found.

  6. 06

    Inclusion & accessibility

Design for every age, ability, background and budget, so no one is left at the edge of the field.

  7. 07

    Learning & sharing knowledge

Treat every gathering as a classroom without walls, where elders, children and strangers teach one another.

Imagine the experience

A day at a Manna Fest might feel like this.

Shared dishes and bread on a wooden table

Communal meals

Long tables where everyone brings a dish and leaves with new recipes.

Musicians playing in a circle at dusk

Music in the round

Open circles where local players and visitors trade songs.

Hands shaping a clay bowl

Making & workshops

Clay, cloth, wood and repair — taught hand to hand.

A storyteller with listeners around a fire

Storytelling

Firelit tales, family histories and stories in many languages.

People dancing in a field

Traditional performance

Dances and customs shared by the people who keep them alive.

People of different ages planning around a table

Across generations

Elders, children and everyone between learning side by side.

Get involved

Every great gathering starts with people.

We're looking for the first voices to help shape this idea: local organisers, artists, musicians, cooks, growers, craftspeople and anyone who loves their community.

There's no application, fee or rulebook. Just an invitation to imagine what Manna Fest could become where you live.

Find or create a Manna Fest

One day, a worldwide directory could help people discover gatherings near them and connect hosts across borders. There are no listings yet — the first Manna Fests haven't happened.

The directory is taking shape.
